Protection

How do inforced acts help people at the work place? Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974

The health and safety at work scheme started in 1974, it was enforced so people at work could work safely and securely in their own working environment.
The Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 , also referred to as HSWA, HSW this is the primary piece of legislation covering occupational health and safety in Great Britain.

The Health and Safety Executive with local authorities (and other enforcing authorities) is responsible for enforcing the Act and a number of other Acts and Statutory Instruments relevant to the working environment.
There are many advantages this act brought to the work place such as
A reduction in the number of working days lost due to illness and injury
Retain your staff, Motivate your workers and boost productivity, Protect the reputation of your company and lastly to shield yourself from potential legal action and reduce your insurance premiums.

All of these things i have listed which i have found from my research help every single person who has a computer. Bu there are also negatives that will effect everyone Will a computer such as, Millions of working days are lost due to work-related illness and injury., Thousands of people die from occupational diseases, Around a million workers self-report suffering from a work-related illness, Several hundred thousand workers are injured at work, worker is fatally injured almost every working day.
All of the things stated are negative things towards this act. So although it helps many people who use computers there will always be a downside.

I have got some of this information from the links below. although i only took a few parts of the information, due to things like the Copyright act which has been introduces it is a great example why work should be protected so i can not take any created for all the work that i have just wrote.

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988

This is another act that was brought into place by the government to bring many other advantages to the work place. But just like the previous act at the start of the page it also has many negatives.

This act gives the creators of literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the right to control the ways in which their material may be used. The rights cover: Broadcast and public performance, copying, adapting, issuing, renting and lending copies to the public. In many cases, the creator will also have the right to be identified as the author and to object to distortions of his work.

The advantages this act will bring are
If people copy items and distribute them they do not receive any money.
Companies that invest time and money into projects will recap the benefits.
Who ever copyright and get caught they can be used by the owner.

This act has worked very well in the favour of business and people who are trying to make money in the work place as they can not have any credit taken from them so they are able to make money without people copying there work and taking any credit for it
Disadvantages
A lot of people break this law and it is hard to catch people out.
Some people don't realise that copying software is illegal.
People also think because no one can see it the it's not a crime.

These links are where i also found a few of the advantages and disadvantages of the copyright act.
